soft blues in bed

By Anjeneé Cannon

sweaty silhouettes tattooed into the sheets,

broken thrusts, tangled toes between our feet.

ella singin, swingin in the background,

it’s not the nearness of you, it’s the touch of you,

the warmth of you, the tall, dark, handsome sight of you.

play me soft, play me hard, play me oh so smoothly

like the keys of ivory you fondle,

like the strings you strum on your guitar.

caress and strum the strings of my soul,

sweep your fingertips against my body,

hold me tight and play me steady.

play me into the night,

play me softly as the morning sunrise,

till I can’t make music no more.
